HDFLook image analysis tool (Download)

HDFLook runs under UNIX/LINUX OS X systems.
HDFLook will allow you to rebuild the images and to modify the color contrast or to create new user images combining the 32 bands of the MODIS data.

Smoke on South Vietnam.
The user is able to switch on the fly from the visible image to a "thermal anomalies image" showing the multiple fires:

Cambodia and Vietnam (Visible bands) Cambodia and Vietnam (Thermal anomalies)

HDFLook allows the user to build an image using several MODIS bands
(In the example, the high absorption by ice at 1.6 microns makes it appear clearly in red in contrast with liquid water clouds in white due to lower absorption.

Baffin Bay (Visible bands) Baffin Bay (Red band 2, Green band 4, Blue band 5)
