Activities

I am specialised in the study of volcanic emissions to understand processes from the magma reservoir to the atmosphere:

  • Analysis of the temporal evolution of volcanic activity
  • Processes of gas/magma migration and storage in the volcanic edifice
  • Atmospheric transport/chemistry of volcanic clouds
  • Impact of volcanic gas/aerosol emissions on the atmosphere

Methods

  • Atmospheric chemistry-transport modelling of volcanic clouds (CHIMERE Eulerian regional chemistry-transport model forced by WRF meteorological model).
  • Inverse modelling combining satellite observations of volcanic clouds (IASI, OMI, OMPS, MODIS, CALIOP) and chemistry-transport modelling in order to:
    • reconstruct volcanic emissions at high temporal resolution
    • forecast the atmospheric dispersal of volcanic clouds
    • forecast air quality
  • Gas/aerosol remote-sensing (DOAS spectroscopy and acoustics) and in-situ techniques (filter packs, cascade impactor)
  • Synergistic analysis of ground-based LIDAR and sun-photometry level 2 products
  • Joint analysis of gas and geophysical (e.g. seismicity) observations for the study of volcanic processes
  • Physical modelling of magmatic and degassing processes
